Glenmore Lodge Dry Tooling Comp

Today was round four of the winter Dry Tooling league, it was held at glenmore Lodge Aviemore. There was three sessions One at 9 o'clock, 12 O'clock and 2 O'clock. I was climbing in the 12 o'clock session with Nikki.
When we got to Glenmore Lodge it was really cold but it got warmer by 12 O'clock when I was climbing!!!

This is the south side of The pillars we were climbing on.

Today was different climbing to the other competitions because it was out doors on real rock and you had to were crampons, and we only had 4 minutes to complete the route each. Nikki and I started on route 2 (one of the hardest routes) We had to stein pull up two vertical planks of wood and keep our feet in marked areas and a quarter of the way up the marked foot holds stopped and we had to plant our crampons in to the vertical planks of wood. Then when we got to the top of the vertical plank of wood we had to put our axes into a plank of horizontal wood and climb across it to the Finnish. It was a really good route and my favourite of the day! Then we had another eight to do before we were Finished.

The results of the Glenmore Lodge round are:

U16 boys:

Steven Addison 77 points 1st place
.
U16 Girls
.
Nikki Addison 20 points 1st place
.
We got loads of video on Saturday and some pics:

At 3:30pm when the comp was finished we all headed into the lecture theatre for a lecture by Andy Turner on The Secret X.10, the new route he put up on Ben nevis last year with Steve Ashworth & Viv Scott.
